Program to tackle big questions
Broome Senior High School will hold an information evening tomorrow to launch an academic extension program for students.
The Big History project is an initiative to be offered to Year 7 and Year 8 students in 2015.
Big History is a cross-curriculum course covering 13.7 billion years that looks at the past from the Big Bang to modernity, seeking common themes and patterns that help students better understand people, civilizations and the world they live in.
The course aims to inspire students and cater for a variety of interests and abilities in a way that will prepare them to excel in their future schooling at BSHS and beyond.
The initiative will be combined with an opportunity for students to participate in an overseas Japanese learning experience for eight days during the school holidays.
Highlights will include a sumo match, Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo Tower and Roppongi Hills Tower, the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, a school exchange for a day and the Hiroshima Museum.
Students wishing to participate in this program will need to apply.
Parents and students in Years 4-7 are invited to attend an information evening tomorrow from 4-4.30pm at the school library.
