Reminder over traffic increase in tourist season

Broome Advertiser

Broome police are asking motorists and motorbike riders to take care as the tourist season swings into action and more vehicles are on the roads.

Senior Sergeant Brendon Barwick said traffic police have observed an increase in tourists coming into town. He said it was timely to remind Broome residents that care should be taken and they should slow down, show courteous road user behaviour and be mindful of the increased use of scooters that will occur.

“People only need a car licence to ride a scooter (up to 50cc) and as such many are not confident in riding them, and coupled with sightseeing and unfamiliarity with the Broome town site, there is an increased chance of traffic-related incidents to occur,” Senior Sergeant Barwick said.
