Saturday's top of the table clash between Roebuck Bay Cricket Club and the Mangrove Cricket Club saw the young and the old do well in both teams to set up a thrilling second last ball victory to RBCC.

Batting first, the MCC were restricted to 167 missing their batting mainstay Dean Holder who was umpiring the football.

Top scorer for Mangrove was the irrepressible Dave Marion who scored 54 including an enormous smite onto the back of the St Marys undercover area.

For RBCC Brett Cameron, fresh from last week's 73, showed his all-round potential snaring 4/16 with his outswingers whilst Kev Collard sneakily climbs the wicket tally with 2/26.

With Steven Thompson continuing his impressive form with 51 and Justin Hommo scoring an aggressive 43, RBCC were looking secure before Holder returned and bowled beautifully getting 2/13 off his 7 with Marion again in the wickets with 3/28.

With one over to go young Max Virgo,12, came out batting at number 10 with three runs required and with Brent Keenan scoring one off the first ball Maxie faced another three before hooking a Duncan Smith full toss for a four to win the game.

The next ball, an angry bouncer, was hooked for another two showing this fine young cricketers class and heart: an enormous future awaits this young man.

In Sunday's game, the Dirty Dozen batted first and scored an excellent 8/187 against a depleted Wanderers.

Justin Crowley is racking up the scores this season with 41 with Brett Morley chipping in 37 and skipper Brett Hughes, 31.

Wayne Edgar was the pick of the bowlers with 3/28. Wanderers could not get a partnership happening and were all out for 108 thanks mainly to Adam Falls who claimed 5/35 with Cornell Tolentino scoring 26 and Tyrone Garstone 23.

Next week's fixtures are the Dozen versus RBCC at Male Oval and Wanderers versus Mangrove at St Mary's.
