Supermarkets empty as floods take a toll

Broome Advertiser

Recent flooding affected supermarket deliveries around Broome last week, leaving shelves empty, and product lines out of stock.

Broome’s IGA store proprietor Carmine Fantasia said the branch suffered considerable loss since its last delivery on Friday, and was unsure when the next delivery would be received.

“I’ve no idea at this stage when we can expect a delivery, it depends on how quickly the water dissipates,” he said.

Mr Fantasia said the store was in short supply of everything, since the main coastal roads from Geraldton to Exmouth and Meekatharra were cut off, believing the delivery trucks reached as far as Capricorn before being stranded by the floods.
