Teddys get ready for fun-time picnic
Fun activities and a day out for the family does not have to be an expensive exercise on Sunday, May 27, when the children of Broome are invited to the Lionesses Club of Broome’s annual Teddy Bears Picnic.
Larger-than-life characters, the Toyworld Bear and Dooper Dog, will not be the only plush personalities among the crowd as Broome families dress up their teddies or cuddly toys, and bring them along for an afternoon of laughter and sunshine.
To be held at the Courthouse Markets, the picnic will include train rides, balloons, a bouncy castle, music and dancing, story time, face-painting, food and free children’s packs.
Event co-ordinator Tracy Gilchrist said it would be a great day out for young families without breaking the bank, for example with face-painting offered for 50 cents.
“We have really focused on keeping the cost down,” she said.
There is some incentive to spend a time preparing teddies before arrival, with best teddy prizes for children aged less than five, five-to-eight years, and eight and older.
The picnic will be held at 2.30pm-4.30pm on Sunday, May 27, at Courthouse Gardens, Broome.
