Top of the table Bullets fire in clash with Scoregasms
The Broome touch football ladders are starting to take shape after round 9 of the 1A/B and social divisions were played last Thursday.
Division 1A/B leaders Bullets continued their unbeaten campaign, overcoming bottom side Scoregasms12-2.
Doogie and Tanah Tang Wei dominated possession for the victorious team, who will now be eyeing a place in the finals.
Scoregasms have been performing well and have been unlucky this season. Troy Dahlstrom and Jude Millard performed well against Bullets.
Only two points separated Barbarians and Outta Touch on the ladder ahead of their clash, which ended up in a 6-6 thriller.
Barbarians started strongly with Dave Lappen and Julieka Stewart to the fore, but Outta Touch staged a comeback to share the spoils. Matt Beattie and Peta Lee impressed also.
Wannabees came from behind against Touch Ups to continue their charge towards the finals, with Adam Selby and Jack Pascoe ensuring a 7-4 victory. Touch Ups were winning the encounter at half-time, but found the going tough in the second half.
Rubber Ducks have put a slow start to the season behind them and consolidated third place on the ladder with a 9-1 victory over Runaways. Kaine Frunks led his Runaways team admirably despite the disappointing defeat.
Phoenix Flyers recorded a hard fought 11-5 victory over Exploders, with Sarah Highlands standing out in the win.
The scoreline does not reflect the tight nature of the game, with the defeated team unlucky not to get anything from the clash. Joe Weavers and Kristy Courtney played well for Exploders.
In the split-round game social side First National Rockets did well against division 1A/B high-flyers Blackouts.
A 16-3 victory kept Blackouts in good form ahead of the finals.
In the social division, the top two sides went head-to-head, with leaders Running Amok stretching their points advantage at the summit with an 11-3 victory over Try Hards. Stu Brown was the star of the victory and Running Amok are now the team to beat in the social division come the finals.
Last year’s champions CYC got back to winning ways against Broome Hospital, with a 7-3 victory.
The hospital are a new team to the division and are competing well and getting tries on the board.
Finally, Chalkies continued their hot-and-cold form with a 10-1 win over Just Us.
