True meaning of holiday played out verge-side

It’s probably the last thing you would expect to see on a verge in Broome.

But just a few metres from the local pub on the corner of Louis Street and Robinson Street a tiny nativity scene is being played out for all to see.

The statues have been enclosed in a purpose-built stage on stilts with a clear plastic front.

At night time, the holy display depicting the birth of Jesus is illuminated leaving passers-by to reflect on the spiritual meaning of Christmas.
