Vroom stays in Broome Motors

Mechanical apprentices in Broome normally have to travel to Perth to complete their courses but, thanks to a new program, six apprentices at Broome Motors have completed 18 months of their courses locally.

The project, the first program of its kind north of the State’s capital, was implemented by the Motor Trade Association of WA. Chief executive Stephen Moir said it was important that the youth of the Kimberley had local training options to develop careers in the motor industry.

Broome Motors’ Simon Guille said he had been extremely impressed with the training and the progress made by the six apprentices.

“The ability to have MTA WA’s trainers fly to Broome for training is a real bonus and saves me and the apprentices time and money,” he said.

“As an employer, the ability to get immediate and accurate progress updates from MTA WA trainers has been incredibly valuable.”

The MTA is divided into 20 divisions representing the automotive sector.

These divisions, which are made up of duly elected members from the relevant industry sector, regularly meet to discuss industry issues and set the agenda for the association.
