Pearl Coast Gymnastics Club conducted its annual badge-testing for Broome gymnasts this month, with an accredited gymnastics coach from Perth coming up to put the young stars through their paces.

Badge testing decides the level at which a gymnast will compete for the year ahead, with passes resulting in the award of a badge.

Nine girls from levels three and four performed their routines across four apparatuses and 13 boys from levels one to four demonstrated their skill across six apparatuses.

The testing was held at the Broome Senior High School gymnasium in a competition-like environment, where spectators were present.

Jo Bulsing, who has been judging women's and men's gymnastics for 15 years, attended training sessions before the testing to provide gymnasts and coaches with valuable tips.

"It is always a pleasure to visit Broome and see the hard work that both the coaches and gymnasts put into the sport - it is a credit to all involved," Bulsing said.

"All the gymnasts worked hard to achieve great results over the weekend, which they will take into regional competitions later this year."

Lower-level female gymnasts will badge test at the club's annual competition in May, with senior Pearl Coast coaches Krystal and Catherine Cilia judging.

Local gymnasts will have the opportunity to compete at their achieved level at two regional competitions in Karratha and Broome, and also at the State Championships in Perth later in the year.
