Perth International Airport was evacuated on Monday afternoon, causing flight chaos.

An airport spokeswoman said that the T1 international terminal was evacuated about 11.55am because of a “fire alarm activation” within the departure lounge.

Emergency services responded and the terminal was reopened by 12.35pm.

“Two arriving international flights were delayed while reoccupation of the terminal occurred,” a Perth Airport spokeswoman said.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services confirmed firefighters attended.
