Metropolis: Major Fremantle nightclub to auction ‘ripest selection’ of old carpet for charity

One of Perth’s most recognisable and longstanding nightclubs will auction an unusual piece of its interiors in the name of charity.

Metropolis Fremantle is selling off its “ripest selection” of old carpet from a revamped upstairs main room to the highest bidders.

Loyal revellers will be able to have their own selection of the late-night hotspot’s floor tapestry, with 25-hand-sized pieces up for grabs.

The venue underwent major renovations earlier this year to its downstairs bars, seating areas and upstairs retro room — which will reopen after two years — to become a “superclub” destination.

NightOwl Entertainment’s head of marketing strategy Nik Thompson previously said the renovations were a vital move to ensure Metropolis remained a “timeless institution of clubbing excellence”.

This week the club revealed its relaunch was met with “overwhelming positivity” and in celebration of the completed upstairs renovation and “suprising demand” the old carpet was now up for auction.

All proceeds from the auction will go towards not-for-profit St Patrick’s Community Support Centre, a homelessness service which holds headquarters in Fremantle.

The auction, opened this week, will close December 7 at 5pm and bids can be made online.
