Shire of Broome councillor Warren Fryer has stepped down from council after moving overseas with his family.

The Shire of Broome announced today that Mr Fryer provided notice of his resignation in accordance with the Local Government Act, which states that a councillor may resign at any time.

Mr Fryer’s term was set to expire this October.

At an ordinary meeting later this month, council will consider whether to call an extraordinary election to fill the position or leave it vacant until local government elections this October.

Shire chief executive Sam Mastrolembo said he thanked Mr Fryer for his three years of service to the community.
