It may have only been round one but the Derby Tigers have already cemented themselves as the team to beat this WKFL season after thrashing the Broome Bulls in a rematch of last year’s grand final.

The home side put on a spectacle for fans at Derby Oval and avenged their three-point loss to the Bulls in the 2017 final by running away with a whopping 74-point victory.

Both teams came out strongly in the first quarter but missed a number of key opportunities in front of goal.

But the Tigers pounced in the second, kicking four goals to just one by the Bulls to go into the half-time break with a comfortable 28-point lead.

The dominance continued in the second half, with Derby booting 10 goals and securing their first win of the season.

Rhonen Maher kicked nine goals in the team’s mammoth win.

They will travel to Looma this weekend to take on the Eagles.
