Traffic police in Broome have urged residents to drive safely in wet weather conditions after a vehicle rollover in last Tuesday’s storm.

It is understood a van rolled onto its roof after a collision with another vehicle at an intersection on Anne Street, 1km from the CBD, near Broome Hospital about 1.30pm on January 9.

Broome police said one vehicle failed to give way to another and driver inattention was attributed as the cause of the crash but there were no injuries.

West Kimberley Traffic Office Senior Constable Clint Haley said it was critical to stay alert while driving, especially in rough conditions.

“Drivers are reminded to be extra vigilant and patient during inclement weather as it’s often harder to see road signs and hazards,” he said.

“The wet roads will reduce abilities to brake and respond to hazards.”

Although it was not a factor in this crash, Sen. Const. Haley reminded drivers to check their vehicles were safe and compliant to help prevent accidents.
