The Broome Basketball Association’s wet season competition is set to draw to an intense conclusion after the Orl Blacks and the Greenbacks clawed their way to the grand final.

Both teams had been showing dominance and high skill on the court throughout the season, and last night’s preliminary finals were no different.

The night’s fixtures began with the Orl Blacks taking on the Clippers.

Right out of the gate, the Orl Blacks took an early lead and spent the duration of the match maintaining that lead.

But the Clippers were hot on their tail as they looked to get the upset victory.

Emotions ran high with both teams truly hungry for the win but the Clippers fell short of matching Orl Blacks’ break-neck speed, leading to the Orl Blacks walking away with an eight-point victory.

The second preliminary final between the Greenbacks and the Gantheaume Pointers looked to be another intense match-up, especially after they drew 37-all last time they met.

Fans were certainly not disappointed with what ensued.

The match began with the Greenbacks taking an early lead, only for the Pointers to remain within five points of grabbing the lead.

The Pointers eventually picked up steam and took the lead by one point at half time.

What followed was a tug of war between the Greenbacks and the Pointers for the lead.

In the end it was the Greenbacks that prevailed, defeating the Pointers by nine points.

The Broome Basketball Association’s wet season grand final between the Greenbacks and the Orl Blacks will be taking place at the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre on Saturday, March 24.
