Greenbacks title favourites
The Greenbacks are the new premiership favourites after a 37-point victory over the B-Town Ballers last Thursday.
In the ninth round of Broome Basketball Association’s wet season competition, the Greenbacks were too strong for the Ballers.
From the tip-off, the Greenbacks were quick to score while the Ballers struggled to get out of the gate.
Later in the first term, the Ballers managed to get their momentum going and narrow the margin.
A pattern soon formed, which saw the Greenbacks in control during the opening minutes of each quarter, followed by the Ballers trying to catch up.
But the Ballers’ efforts proved to be futile as they were unable to catch up to the Greenbacks’ strong offence.
Despite the Greenbacks’ dominance on the scoreboard, the match was entertaining for Broome’s basketball fans.
Meanwhile, two of the remaining match-ups brought a lot of excitement to Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre.
After suffering a last-minute loss to the Gantheaume Pointers on February 1, the Misfits managed to redeem themselves with a hard-fought victory.
The Misfits overcame the determined Orl Blacks to nab an upset four-point victory over the second-placed team.
Unfortunately for the Pointers, they found themselves on the opposite end of a close match when they went up against the Clippers. Despite going into the match-up with a last-gasp victory under their belt, the Pointers fell just short as the Clippers clinched victory by two points.
What was the Pointers’ loss proved to be the Outlaws’ gain as they overtook the Pointers on the ladder when they claimed a victory over Broome Development, who have replaced the Hornets in the competition.
