Harvey community bowled over as competition comes to an end

Harvey residents have been bowled over with their community bowls competition coming to an end.
The Harvey Bowling Club, South 32 and the Harvey Rotary club gathered on Wednesday to host the grand final of Harvey’s Community Bowls.
Rotary club president Robyn Coleman said it had been a successful season with 20 teams of four competing for the grand prize since October last year.

This year’s finale was sponsored by South 32, which helped the Rotary Club feed all the players and their ringers.
“Every team gets a novelty prize,” Mrs Coleman said.
“It’s taken me months and months to get them all together — It’s certainly a mixture of fun.”
The overall winners were awarded $400, with second taking home $200 and $100 for third.
The bottom teams walked away with wooden spoons, literally.
Mrs Coleman said the event was a great community triumph, bringing together people from all walks of life.
“We have all sectors of the community here,” she said.
“Some are from aged care, some are from retail, we have ambulance, police, bakers and construction workers — all sorts of people are taking part.”
