Australia’s sweetheart Jessica Mauboy is set to make her return to Broome this weekend, a town she says will always be close to her heart.

The pop princess, who rose to fame after finishing second in Australian Idol 2006, will travel to the town with Sky News presenter Paul Murray, who will host a live broadcast of his LIVE Our Town series at Sun Pictures.

Broome is the seventh stop in the program, in which Murray is travelling to 10 regional destinations countrywide in as many months to celebrate the uniqueness of each town.

And while it will be beamed to thousands of televisions across Australia, Broome residents are being urged to join the audience.

Mauboy, who spent time in the Kimberley filming her lead role in the movie musical Bran Nue Dae, will perform her new single Little Things for the show and said she could not wait to be back in the town.

“Broome is such a beautiful part of Australia and holds such a special place in my heart,” she said.

“Make sure you mob come down on the night!”

Murray said he could not wait to show the rest of the country this “amazing part of the world”.

“Broome is the most iconic stop on our national adventure,” he said.

The program will be broadcast live on Sky News on Sunday at 7pm and on WIN.
