Roey Roosters rule the roost

Carly LadenBroome Advertiser

The newly named Roey Roosters had a favourable beginning to touch rugby season with a victory over Touchy Feely.

A new season of touch rugby began with a bang on February 22 at Father McMahon Oval.

The first half began with Touchy Feely putting the pressure on the Roosters with quick tags and a well-thought-out defensive strategy. It was an even start as the teams got back into the groove until Touchy Feely managed to slip through and score the first try of the match.

However, the Roosters were quick to retaliate with a try of their own and eventually took the lead to end the half.

The second half of the match saw a similar start, with Touchy Feely quick to score and attempt to catch up to the Roosters.

But the Roosters continued to stop Touchy Feely in their tracks and extend their lead.

The Roosters proved too quick for Touchy Feely as they kept slipping through the cracks of Touchy Feely’s defence.

Touchy Feely were left struggling to keep up, giving the Roosters the victory 8-3.

Elsewhere in division 1, the Runaways could not run away with a victory, losing to Scoregasms 13-4, Bush Chooks defeated the Stingrays 11-5 and the Sharks managed to outrun the Bullets.

Two division 1 match-ups proved to be as even as they could be, with ARAC Attack and the Willie Creek Crocs, and the Greenbacks and Stingers tying up their respective matches 8-8.

Meanwhile, in division 2, the First National Rockets scored a 6-2 victory over The Animals, the Tide Runners proved too much for the Broome Pirates and Yippee Try Yay had something to cheer about with their 8-6 win over the Exploders.
