‘Screaming’: Murder charge after after alleged stabbing at unit in inner-Brisbane
A man has died following an alleged stabbing at a unit block in inner-Brisbane in the early hours of Sunday, with another man charged with murder hours later.
Police received reports about 4.15am on Sunday that a 39-year-old West End man had been stabbed at a Hamilton Place Unit in Bowen Hills.
The man suffered critical stab wounds and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
He was declared dead shortly after he arrived at the hospital.
A 22-year-old Bowen Hills man known to the 39-year-old is assisting police with inquiries.
A resident told The Courier Mail he heard “screaming” and “wailing” in the apartment block, which a lot of families call home.
He said he called the police after he heard a man asking for help and saying: “I’m gonna die”.
“I didn’t go out there and then, just called the cops,” the resident told the masthead.
“There is blood on our door. There is blood all over the walls, all over the carpet towards the elevator.”
Police announced about 9pm on Sunday a 22-year-old Bowen Hills man had been charged with one count of murder.
He is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Anyone with information has been urged to come forward.
