Athletes from the Broome Tri Club have excelled at another endurance event recently, with participation at the Busselton halfironman earlier this month.

The event, involving a 1.9km swim, 90.1km cycle and 21.1km run, was held on Saturday, May 3.

Nicole Smyth, Donna Dixon and Janelle White all recorded personal bests in the process of completing the gruelling feat.

Dixon crossed the finishing line after 5hr 21min., Smyth completed it in a time of 5:42, while White recorded a time of 5:45.

Former Broome residents Oskar Booth and Katy Duffield also excelled.

Smyth, who is president of Broome Tri Club, said the club's numbers had been bolstered this year and there was a real focus on participation.

Her next event is the Kep Ultra on June 1, which is a 75km race from Northam to Mundaring.

Smyth also stressed that with 12 weeks to the Cable Beach triathlon, it was the perfect time for beginners to train for the local event.
