Awards beckon for Kimberley operators

Gareth McKnightBroome Advertiser

A host of Kimberley based tourism operators are set to be recognised in a prestigious State awards ceremony next month, with the region again being highlighted as one of WA’s drawcards.

The finalists for the 2015 Western Australian Tourism Awards have been named, with around 30 organisations operating in the Kimberley being shortlisted across an array of different categories.

The nominations are across categories such as the best tourist attractions, best tour operators, best destination marketing campaign, most unique accommodation, best brewery and top restaurant.

West Kimberley organisations to be shortlisted include Willie Creek Pearl Farm, Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa, Kimberley Wild Expeditions, Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures, Matso’s Broome Brewery and the Mangrove Resort Hotel.

Australia’s North West Tourism chief executive officer Glen Chidlow, whose company was also named as a candidate in the destination marketing category, said the number of Kimberley based organisations in contention was a testament to the region.

“The Kimberley region once again is well and truly represented in the list of finalists in this year’s Tourism Awards,” he said.

“This is a direct reflection of the range and calibre of unique experiences on offer in the Kimberley, as well as the high degree of professionalism amongst the operators of the region.”

The 2015 Western Australian Tourism Awards will be hosted at Crown Perth on Saturday, November 14. For more information and a full list of the nominees visit www.tourismcouncilwa.com.au.
