Sydney band Boy and Bear are set to play an exclusive show at Divers Tavern next Wednesday as part of a regional tour on which the group will play 30 gigs across Australia in six weeks.

It has been a whirlwind journey to stardom for the quintet, who formed in 2009.

In Boy and Bear's breakthrough year, 2011, they scooped five accolades at the ARIA Music Awards after the release of debut album Moonfire.

Leading single Feeding Line quickly became a hit, while touring overseas has helped the band build an international presence.

Second album Harlequin Dream was released last August and debuted at number one on the ARIA charts.

Boy and Bear have been touring in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK and all over Australia since the album's release.

The Broome Advertiser caught up with band member Jon Hart last week, who said touring had been a memorable experience.

"We have a lot of shows under our belt now and we have had some pretty incredible experiences," he said.

"The US and Canada were the biggest surprise because we hadn't been there in a while, but we were very pleased with the amount of people that came out to see us.

"We were so busy so it is hard to single one thing from the next, but it was a tour that blew our expectations."

Jon said the Broome audience could expect a blend of new songs and some of the favourites from their debut album.

"We have worked hard over the last few months to strike up a good balance between new and old material," he said.

"It feels like the show is really coming alive now and hopefully we will still be feeling that way in six months' time."

Despite playing exclusive venues across the globe, Jon said Boy and Bear felt their upcoming regional tour was very important.

He said he was looking forward to coming to Broome.

"We saw how Powderfinger handled their career - they would get out to places that other bands didn't go," he said.

"We've always tried to go beyond the capital cities.

"All the feedback from regional shows we have played has been great and they appreciate us making the effort.

"It is an opportunity to win over new fans, so you have to really be on your game and there is a different energy that goes along with that.

"It keeps it fresh for us by playing to new people every night - I like that."

Boy and Bear will perform at Divers Tavern next Wednesday, with tickets on sale now at the venue and doors opening at 7pm.
