In the final qualifying game of the Divers 2020 Big Bash, Derby had their first win for the league after beating a valiant Broome Bulls at St Mary's Oval.

Bulls batted first and made a competitive 6/118 but were pipped at the post by Derby 8/121.

In the afternoon game, the Dirty Dozen were outclassed by the Mangrove who look to have left their peak a bit late.

Batting first, the Dozen were in trouble early and ended their 20 overs, 8/45. The Mangrove bowling unit were superb, swinging the ball both ways and maintaining good lines and causing every batsman problems.

In the game of the round, Roebuck Bay Cricket Club took on the Wanderers at the billiard table Male Oval.

Batting first, the big ship Joel Unicorn blasted 65 as the RBCC complied 4/139 off their 20.

Regular wickets and a strong effort in the field by the RBCC restricted the Wanderers to 5/110 despite some classy hitting by Dom Tracey and Ben Rahman.

Players of their calibre doing well is a sign that the playing conditions have improved and the clubs look forward to increasing scores as the season goes on.

The final will be played on Sunday at Male Oval at 2pm between the Dirty Dozen who are minor premiers playing in the 2020 Final for their first time, versus veterans of the final the RBCC, who have won the flag three times.

The 35 over cricket season begins August 24 after a short break. If you are keen to play, please contact James Carpenter on 0400 842 554.
