Five local operators were recognised for their outstanding achievements at the inaugural Derby Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards this month.

The event was held at the Neaps Bistro on May 4 and attracted a host of local business representatives and guests including Small Business Development Corporation chairwoman Kitty Prodonovich.

This year’s winners were Wattnow Electrical for the Aboriginal business award, Skippers Cleaning Service for the home based business award, Kimberley Pharmacy Services for the community engagement award, Optitax Accountants for the 0-4 employees award and Jenkins Earthmoving and Transport for the 5-10 employees award.

They will now receive automatic nomination for the Western Australia Regional Small Business Awards held in Perth in November.

DCC president Stewart Milne said the night was a great success.

“Congratulations to the winners,” he said.

“Another big thank you to our other sponsors, without their support we could not have pulled off a fantastic event for our members and guests.”
