The Broome Sailing Club held its open day last Sunday, with a blessing of the fleet ahead of an action-packed dry-season racing calendar.

The public attended the event at Gantheaume Point, while the Broome Scouts were on hand to a host a sausage sizzle.

The winners of the wet- season competition were also announced and congratulated by Commodore Alex Tiverios.

John Dayman scooped first place for his efforts on the water, while Miranda Dibdin and Loi Odore took second and third places respectively.

The club has 22 races planned for the dry season, while new members are welcome.

BSC head trainer John Dayman said the club had an exciting season ahead, with Broome youngsters being taught the merits of the sport.
