A Broome man has been charged after detectives swooped on a house in the town and seized 31 grams of the drug known as ice.

The 56-year-old faces a string of charges including intent to sell and supply a prohibited drug, possession of stolen property and drug paraphernalia, and possession of ammunition.

Broome Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Bradshaw said the amount of methylamphetamine was “significant”.

“For a small town like Broome, we are talking about quite a substantial amount of drugs with an estimated street value of about forty thousand dollars,” he said.

He said the raid on January 21 resulted from public information and thanked people for their contributing.

“This operation was based on intelligence received from all over the community and has given us the information we were looking for,” Det Sgt Bradshaw said.

The man is due to appear in Broome Magistrates’ Court in February.
