Investigation into death of 28-year-old at remote community

Police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man at a remote Kimberley Aboriginal community this morning.

Major crime squad detectives are investigating the at Pandanus Park Community, 56km south of Derby.

A statement released by police this morning said officers received a report of a “disturbance” and an injured man at the community about 12.15am.

Police and St John Ambulance personnel attended the scene, discovering the unconscious man.

He was taken to Derby Hospital, but later died.

Police say an individual is assisting with their investigation.

Major crime squad detectives and forensic officers are set to travel to Derby today to continue with the investigation.

It is the second time in less than a week major crime officers have made their way up to the area, with investigations ongoing in relation to the discovery of skeletal remains near Coconut Well, 10km from Broome, on Sunday.
