Broome will soon be just a few clicks away from accessing super-fast broadband services after it was earmarked as one of a number of WA regional towns to receive the National Broadband Network by next year.

About 79,000 WA suburban and regional homes, including residences in Broome, Cable Beach, Djugun, Minyirr and Bilingurr, will be targeted for the rollout.

The Government-backed NBN Co said construction would start between now and September 2016.

The latest areas will get a multi-technology mix, some with fibre-to-the-premises and others the more controversial fibre-to-the-node, where the "final mile" to the home uses Telstra's ageing copper network, bought by NBN Co as part of a complex $11 billion deal.

Federal Member for Durack Melissa Price said it was an important milestone for the electorate, with greater certainty for homes and businesses as they prepared for superfast broadband services.

"The NBN will deliver internet access that's fast, reliable and affordable - better broadband will transform the way homes and businesses communicate, do business and access online services."

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull said the progress of the NBN showed the Government's reforms of the project had ensured the rollout would be completed sooner, would be cheaper for taxpayers and more affordable for consumers. "The arrival of the NBN will mean that those opportunities will be extended to all Australians, regardless of where they live".

NBN Co provides monthly updates on its website showing areas that have reached build preparation, build commencement and are ready for service.
