With sport growing in Broome, BRAC has brought on a new centre manager to take the facility forward in 2014.

Casey Zepnick has returned to the town and started his role at the centre last week.

He previously spent a year working for the Shire of Broome as the club development officer, while he has also worked for the Department of Sport and Recreation over in Victoria.

Zepnick has spent the last year in Cairns working for the regional council, conducting a feasibility study into a swimming pool redevelopment.

With a sport and exercise science degree under his belt, he said he was looking forward to helping sport grow in the town.

"It is great to see sports clubs growing and things getting bigger and bigger in Broome with increased participation," Zepnick said.

"There are a great team of people here at BRAC that keep everything running and progressing."

Zepnick said the ongoing BRAC masterplan would play a significant role in determining the path that sport would take at the centre.

"The exciting thing is that we have had consultants here talking to clubs, users and staff to put together a masterplan," he said.

"This will inform us about the direction the centre will take and state when things will happen.

"We have already had the approval for the resurfacing of our tennis courts and we are expecting work to be done around the pool - there are some pretty exciting times ahead for the centre and there will be a lot going on in the next year."
