Pursuit through Bicton ends on Mounts Bay Road, police uncover ‘replica firearm’ and ‘meat cleaver’ in car

A meat cleaver, replica firearm and methamphetamine were allegedly seized from a car that was involved in a dramatic chase that came to a crashing end on Mounts Bay Road overnight. The dramatic incident began about 12.40am on Thursday when officers sighted a white Holden Commodore Sedan on Canning Highway in Bicton. Police said the driver failed to stop before the chase started. “Police Air Wing, in communication with officers on the ground tracked the vehicle as it allegedly travelled recklessly from Bicton to Perth,” a WA Police spokesperson said. “A stinger was deployed on Mounts Bay Road, it will be alleged the vehicle continued driving until it collided into a wall on the intersection of Mounts Bay Road and Barrack Street. A 26-year-old was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with nine offences by rapid apprehension squad detectives. He is facing offences including reckless driving, possessed a prohibited weapon and possession of methamphetamine. The man will face Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday.
