Quiz winner is all smiles
Broome dental nurse Kim Eastough has found a good reason to smile after scooping $50,000 on Millionaire Hot Seat.
The bubbly resident scored the win after correctly answering a question about former Beatle Paul McCartney.
Ms Eastough went head to head with five other competitors during an episode that aired on February 4 and jumped into the hot seat as the final contestant after the previous player answered his question incorrectly.
She answered only one question to scoop the prize money, which asked what band Paul McCartney formed in 1971 after he left the Beatles.
Giving host Eddie McGuire a telling glance, Ms Eastough knew she had won as soon as the question was read out.
She correctly picked Wings from among the other answers of Three Dog Night, The Grass Roots and Skylark.
Ms Eastough said she was still surprised to have won.
"I was so shocked and amazed," she said.
"It blew me away to be honest … I couldn't believe it."
The game show enthusiast applied to audition for Millionaire Hot Seat at the start of last year.
She flew to Melbourne to take part in the show on December 1 after successfully making it through an audition in Perth.
During her moment of fame, Ms Eastough wore her Cygnet Bay pearl necklace and proudly gushed about Broome and the pearl farm.
At one point, she handed over a packet of dried mango to McGuire, which she referred to as "Broome sunshine" before she cheekily quipped: "You need as much sunshine as you can get in Melbourne."
Ms Eastough said her appearance on the show was a great way to give Broome a national plug.
The resident said she would spend some of the money on a holiday.
Cygnet Bay Pearls general manager James Brown said Ms Eastough was a "perfect Broome ambassador" who did everyone proud in front of a national audience.
