Thousands of people attended the Love Broome Expo last weekend to enjoy two jam-packed days of community fun and celebration.

Presented by Australia's North West Expo, the event showcased the best the town has to offer, featuring an eclectic mix of 75 exhibitors across the board including government, training and education, industry and tourism.

The Broome Civic Centre and grounds were abuzz with activity as families toured the stalls, mingled with community representatives and enjoyed colourful local entertainment on offer.

Love Broome Expo president Elisabeth Lucke said the event was a tremendous success, with around 5000 people pouring through the doors.

"It was a really lovely weekend, back to the old Broome-style expo of decades ago where the community turned out in force," she said.

"On Sunday, a lot of Broome families used it as their Mother's Day outing so we had three and four generations of some families coming through the gate."

Ms Lucke said she received great feedback from community organisations that got fantastic outcomes from the event.

Highlights included performances by Sun Studios ballroom stars, Tania McKenna's talented students and local high school musicians.

Youngsters enjoyed a range of activities presented by local community groups.

Celebrity gardener Costa Georgiadis made a special appearance and offered top gardening tips, while youth engagement specialist Nathan Hulls inspired teenagers to chase their dreams.

Despite operating on a smaller scale this year, Ms Lucke said the event had delivered big in providing a fantastic event for the town, thanks to the community.

"It was a very Broome-style weekend," he said.

"We didn't have the economic resources that we would have normally, and for the first time, the community really stepped back into the equation…the whole event was really made possible for the community by the community."

Ms Lucke said the only disappointing part of the event was a number of thefts had occurred, with police charging two youths in connection with the offences.
