Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe has wasted little time getting down to business in an attempt to recover from Saturday’s bruising clash with Greater Western Sydney at Optus Stadium.

Fyfe was tagged by close friend, business partner and ex-Docker Matt de Boer during the game and made to earn every kick.

At one stage, Fyfe ended up half way over the fence after being shoved by de Boer, in a move which cost the Giants midfielder a $500 fine for misconduct.

The negative attention worked though given Fyfe managed only four disposals in the first half and 11 for the day.

It was the dual Brownlow medallist’s lowest possession tally at half-time since his second game of AFL.

Fyfe received a game-high four free kicks for the day but was restricted to just three clearances as GWS won by 38 points.

The Dockers flew to Brisbane yesterday and then drove to the Gold Coast to prepare for Wednesday night’s match against Richmond at Metricon Stadium.

The team is staying in Broadbeach and went straight to the beach this morning for a recovery session.

Broadbeach is a popular location for clubs. Carlton were just leaving the beach when the Dockers arrived and several AFL umpires were also in the middle of a recovery session too.

There were also players from several clubs at the same beach yesterday.

A 26 degree day has met Fremantle in Queensland but the water still had a chill to it as the squad freshened up their bodies.

Recovery is at the forefront of every players’ mind given they have just four days between games.

Despite being at the beach, the Dockers were still required to follow the AFL’s social distancing guidelines with the team broken up into small groups of eight and spread out along the beach.

But spirits were high as they swam, stretched and kicked the football on the sane.

Fremantle won’t spend long in Broadbeach. They will re-locate to Cairns for the remainder of their hub on Thursday.
