Channel 7’s AFL talk show has taken a leaf out of The West’s coverage of number one draft pick Harley Reid by editing an image of the Eagles superstar alongside Princess of Wales Kate Middleton.

During Wednesday’s episode of The Front Bar, hosts Sam Pang, Mick Molloy, and Andrew Maher discussed recent coverage of the West Coast recruit in The West Australian newspaper.

“I’m not sure if you are aware, Harley Reid, the number one draft pick from last year, made his debut for the West Coast Eagles this week,” Andrew Maher told viewers.

“So there were 30 days in a row he was in the paper on the front of the back - everything single day this week in the leadup (to his debut) he was in the front or the back page of The West Australian.“

Mick Malloy then showcased a plethora of parody Harley Reid-themed pages in Wednesday’s edition of The West Australian.

“Here’s today’s The West Australian, and he’s pretty well represented,” Malloy said.

Reid was then flashed across the screen, appearing in The West’s property section, House That.

He was also featured as a replacement in the business barefoot investor column before he replaced Samatha Jolly for the daily weather update.

“This is good. Here’s Harley Reid’s weather. You have got to get to the bottom of his four-day forecast.”

Molloy finished his address by Front BAr’s rendition of the newspaper pages was “not photoshopped”.

It comes after Puma purchased space on the back page to leave their star sponsee a simple message ahead of his debut clash against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

Western Australia’s largest newspaper has published a long string of back pages featuring West Coast’s teenage sensation since he was drafted with the No.1 overall pick in November.

During pre-season, he featured on the back 11 days in a row, dominating headlines and garnering interest country-wide in the build towards the 2024 season.

After the Eagles went down to Port on Sunday, Reid exclusively told The West his debut was “nerve-wracking”.

“It was pretty nerve-wracking when you walk out there and see all the fans that are around, but I enjoyed my time out there,” Reid said.

“Once you get on the bus to come down and you get underground, that was the moment when I thought, ‘It’s here; my time has come.’
