Friday will marks the start of the 2024-25 water polo season, with Mid West teams set for action over the weekend.

In the Men’s A-grade games, defending champions Demons face off against Rats, while the B52’s launch their campaign with a match against the Composite side.

The B52’s are combining with their Relics side this season.

B52’s legend Daniel Prout says he will relish the challenge of the new season.

“I’m excited to play with guys we competed against last year, since we’re combining teams in Men’s A this season. I’m also looking forward to seeing the progress of the younger players.”

For the Women’s A-grade, all teams are set to be in action on Friday evening. Current premiers B52’s take on Rats, and the Demons start against the Women’s Composite team.

Rats player and women’s coach Luke Neuwert is optimistic about the club’s prospects going into the new season.

“It’s been a long winter, and many of the Rats players are eager to get back into some solid polo and play as a team. The vibe during pre-season has been energetic,” he said.

Newly elected association president Ben France shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming season.

“We are excited for a year of strong, healthy competition. With strong teams in senior clubs and growing numbers across the juniors, it’s going to be a great year for Geraldton water polo,” he said.

In B-grade, the Men’s Demons team takes on the B52’s, while Rats go head-to-head with the B52’s Relics

The Women’s B-grade kicks off with Demons facing Serpents, and B52’s versus Rats wrapping up the round on Saturday afternoon.

C-grade matches begin on Friday, with the Women’s Rats Orange going up against Demons Black. On Saturday, Serpents Green will meet Demons Yellow, and B52’s will face Rats Black.

For the Men’s C-grade, there’s one game on Saturday, with B52’s squaring off against Rats.
