You have to be in it to win it.

Jaxon Andrews knew the phrase. He just didn’t think it meant he would one day drive off in a brand new Mazda BT-50.

The self-confessed tipping battler won his new wheels thanks to Mazda, just for playing The Game AFL tipping in season 2024.

The car – a Mazda BT-50 Dual Cab 4x4 SP Pickup Auto valued at over $76,000 – is one hell of a prize on its own.

But Andrews said bragging rights over his dad was a nice bonus.

“I was nowhere near the top tipping-wise, my old man took out our competition and I actually called him after I got the call that I’d won,” he said.

“A soon as he answered the phone he said, ‘are you calling to me to congratulate me about winning the comp’.

“I played along, wishing him congratulations, but said I think I’ve outdone you.”

Andrews is a regular tipper with The Game but has never even threatened to take home the top prize.

The car has ended up a soothing balm for a lifetime of bad tipping.

“It’s not every day you win a car,” he said.

“I’m a regular tipper ... but it’s pretty rare for something like this in my life. Even if I don’t win something like this again, I’m content.

Andrew was one of several The Game tippers to win big in season 2024. West Coast fan John Clarke took out the major prize, winning $50,000 thanks to TABtouch as this season’s top tipper. Beryl Woodhall also took home $10,000 thanks to Thirsty Camel just for registering for the season early.

Andrews, keys in hand, said he is yet to acclimatise to his new Mazda but will no doubt put it to good use.

“I’m not too sure what to do with it (yet) because she’s so nice inside and I feel like I’m going to destroy it,” he said.

The AFL season may be in the books but there are still live chances to win with The Game. One round remains in the AFLW tipping competition, while The Game cricket tipping for BBL will return in the summer.
