West Coast has extended young ruckman Coen Livingstone’s stay in the blue and gold, handing the Naitanui Academy product a contract extension.

Livingstone was drafted in 2023 and spent the year developing in the ruck.

But, as The West Australian reported last week, the club were impressed with the 19-year-old’s offerings and have locked him in until the conclusion of the 2025 season.

Livingstone produced an equal-season high 14 touches, 15 hit-outs and a major in round 10 against Subiaco before slotting three majors in round 17.

The youngster would be the third Naitanui Academy product to reach AFL level for the Eagles should he debut after Jarrad Cameron and Tyrell Dewar.

Eagles General Manager of Football Gavin Bell said he was pleased to have secured more time for Livingstone to develop.

“Coen has shown his determination and appetite for hard work since joining our AFL squad, and we’re really pleased he has signed on for 2025,” he said.

“We all know young key position players take some time to develop but Coen has shown some exciting attributes playing in a strong WAFL competition against seasoned bodies.

“He will continue working on his forward and ruck craft over pre-season, and we look forward to seeing his continued development.”

The Eagles struggled for ruck depth at times throughout 2023 after recruit and former Giant Matt Flynn tore his hamstring in pre-season.

However, during the back end of another WAFL wooden spoon campaign, the side featured three big men, including Flynn, Livingstone and South Australian Harry Barnett.
